Executive Committee Candidates

Patricia H. Stewart

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  This is one of my favorite scriptures and I often follow it with, “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans!”

My husband Randy and I have been married for almost 12 years and it is because I made God laugh! Randy, lonely following the death of his first wife, prayed to meet someone. I, on the other hand, was determined never to marry again. Friends brought us together and we married 6 months after our first date!

I have been a member of Grace Anglican for 40 years. I am currently the Senior Warden (until January 2025) and have served as senior warden many times. In addition, I serve as the Pastoral Care Coordinator, lead Prayers of the People, am a Reader, serve as a healing prayer minister, Lay Eucharist Minister, and have given the sermon on several occasions.

I served on the Executive Committee for 5 years early in Bishop Keith’s tenure and enjoyed working to support the Diocese of Western Anglicans. I am an active member of the Diocesan Transition Team, including leading the Walkabout for San Diego.

In our Deanery, I have served as the Clergy Formation Lead, trained Discernment Teams in San Diego and Arizona churches, and proctor Canonical exams when needed. I serve as the Prayer Liaison linking to DWA’s Lead Prayer Intercessor, Sue Ellen Warren.

When I retired in 2008, I left a very busy job as Director of Pupil Services for the Del Mar Union School District, but I have found myself even busier in these past years. When Jim Dale asked if I would consider standing for election to the Executive Committee, I went to prayer. As I prayed, I talked with my husband and my Rector, both of whom encouraged me to consider this opportunity. As we transition from our Bishop Keith to a new Bishop and as our Diocese sees our Deaneries and the Yellowstone Missionary District grow, we will have many decisions to make. God willing, I offer my skills in administration and organization and my gifts of wisdom and discernment and prayer as a way to give back to God for all of His blessings.

I am a member of Living Faith Anglican Church serving on the facilities committee.  I am a lifelong Anglican growing up in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas, until I went to the Air Force Academy in 1990.  My family moved to Christ Church Plano in the mid-1990s and continues to attend there.  Christ Church served as my home church until I retired as a colonel in 2020 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

I have a BS in engineering and a minor in German.  I have two MS degrees in aviation sciences and strategic planning.  I have served on multiple General Staffs at the national and international levels, have commanded combat units ranging from over 100 to over 3,000 personnel, and have been active in Chaplaincy programs from teaching bible studies, to participating in fellowship activities including Promise Keepers, Every Man A Warrior, and AWANAS.

My wife, Michelle, and I have been married for 29 years and have two children, Julia and Lauren, both married.  My interests include the Ante-Nicean Fathers, ecclesiastical history, foreign languages (speaking German fluently, a working grasp of French and Italian, and a basic level of Koine Greek), and fly fishing.  I am currently a captain for JSX, a semi-private airline.

I hope to support the Diocese as needed through prayer and using my strategic planning, staff organization, and workflow management experience as our new bishop serves the congregations under his charge and directs missional and other efforts as led by the Holy Spirit.

Fun Fact:  During Covid, while the airlines froze hiring, I worked as a fly fishing instructor for Bass Pro Shops.  My motto: “If I can’t fly jets, by goodness I’ll fly fish!”

I serve as the Rector of Grace Anglican Church in Oceanside, CA. I moved to the San Diego area two years ago with Dawn, my wife of 23 years, and our six children: Alyana (19), Xander (16), Justin (14), Stephen (12), Michael (9) and Chaz (3). We are a ministry family who all serve in various ways on Sundays at Grace Anglican Church.

Dawn and I have fostered five other children serving families in crisis as they work towards reunification. I have served in full-time ministry in the Anglican Church for 23 years as a Youth Pastor, College Pastor, Mission Pastor, Connections Pastor, and finally as a Rector. I received a BA in Christian Formation and Ministry and Wheaton College and combined graduate studies at Trinity Anglican Seminary, Northern Seminary, and Nashotah House for my seminary degree.

I came to faith in a southern Baptist church in Alabama at the age of 14. I experienced tremendous healing and powerful worship at the Anglican church in Chicago during my college years. I have learned that my spiritual gifts are leadership, healing, administration, teaching, and evangelism. As a rector in Chicago, I have catalyzed several new congregations and raised up new lay leaders and ordinands for evangelism and mission. I continue to serve as the Executive Mission Pastor of the Greenhouse Movement, a network of Anglican churches working to support new church plants, new lay missioners and catechists, and new missional movements. I hope to use my gifts to support the new Bishop in his role to catalyze new works throughout the Diocese.

My faith journey began uniquely in middle school, within a tiny Methodist church. This experience laid the groundwork for my commitment to Jesus and His church. My wife Jamie and I have been married for 18 years, and along with our kids, Lydia, Jude, and Rachel, they are my biggest supporters and a constant source of joy in my faith journey.

At Christ Church Anglican, where I have the joy of serving as Rector, we're passionate about seeing lives changed by the good news of Jesus one person at a time. In my role at Christ Church Anglican, it's been a joy to see our parish grow together and develop deeper connections with one another and Jesus, which are aspects of ministry I deeply value.

I love teaching and taking on leadership roles. There is something incredibly rewarding and honoring about contributing to our church's spiritual and communal growth. Introducing new programs and delivering sermons that resonate with our community is genuinely fulfilling.

Before serving at Christ Church, I ministered at Christ Church of Atlanta as the Associate Rector and at St. Peter’s Cathedral as the Canon for Family Ministries. At Christ Church of Atlanta, I was involved in broadening the outreach initiatives and deepening our Christian formation ministries. At St. Peter's Cathedral, my focus was on family ministry. I worked to support families in their spiritual growth, helped integrate the next generation into the church, and encouraged their faith in Jesus.

With a new Bishop on the horizon, I'm looking forward to the chance to help support and shape our diocese's future. I look forward to being on the team and helping to implement the Bishop’s vision for our diocese.

Larry Moudy

I am a founding member of Christ Church Anglican, Phoenix, AZ. During its almost 17 years I have served as a Vestry member, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, and Treasurer. And for all those years I have sung in the choir and been a lay reader.

I was a voice major at Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, VA. After college I sang and played rhythm guitar for 2 ½ years in Up With People. My time in UWP was interrupted when I was drafted into the US Army, during which I served a year in Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne. I then went on to a 33-year career with Fender Musical Instrument in numerous position – Inside Sales, District Sales Manager, VP Sales for US and Canada, VP Marketing for Guitars, and finally Senior VP Corporate Administration.  While in Up With People I played guitar and soloed in Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and even got a brief write up Billboard Magazine.

I was raised in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). However, my dad supplemented his income as a paid section leader/soloist in various churches, so as a family we went to several different denominations over my early years. My wife, Debbie, and I just celebrated our 41 anniversary and it was through her that I was led to the Episcopal church.

Having grown up in Church I do not think there is a specific date/time that I came to know the Lord. It seems He has always been a part of my life. That said, there have been at least four times when my faith has been deeply tested and He led me through those times. When one door closed, another was opened and I have been blessed.

My spiritual gifts seem to be of the practical type – planning, budgeting, and management.  As part of the positions I held at Christ Church Anglican, I headed up the evaluation of our church property, took part in the negotiations to purchase our campus, and participated in one of our rector search committees.

Mike Howard

Mike Howard attends Living Faith Anglican Church with his wife Stacy where he frequently serves as acolyte. Mike and Stacy have been married 21 years and have 4 amazing kids ages 18, 14, 13, & 9 whom they homeschool.

Mike’s faith journey began as an Air Force brat who was whatever denomination the chaplain was. But his relationship with Jesus began growing intentionally as a freshman at Baylor University and deepened as he and Stacy began teaching and raising kids, while sometimes going on short term mission trips.

Before coming home to Anglicanism, Mike served on staff at a local non-denominational church as the operations manager and chief financial overseer of a large building project. In that role, Mike’s detailed administrative gifts were frequently put to use creating systems to organize chaos. He now assists people in difficult situations as a claims adjuster for a major insurance company.

As the Diocese moves into a new season with the election of the new Bishop, Mike would like to see an evaluation of the procedures that are in place for the ordination of new deacons and priests. If more churches are to be birthed, there must be more shepherds. And whether or not he is elected, Mike will continue to pray for the Diocese daily as a ministry.

Fun fact: Mike has been to space with NASA!
